Chulmleigh is a peaceful, small country town sitting on a hilltop above the Little River Dart. Although a fire destroyed many of the old houses in 1803, the character of Chulmleigh was not lost in the rebuilding. This town is a real delight with its pleasing mix of architectural styles and courts of cottages, around quiet squares.

Cullompton is a country town at the very gateway to Devon. Lying in the valley of the River Culm, Cullompton grew out of the wealth created by the local wool and cloth trade. Cullompton's magnificent church, St Andrews, is situated in the centre of the town and is thought to be one of the most beautiful parish churches in Devon.
