Coleton Fishacre

Spectacularly set in a stream-fed valley on a beautiful stretch of the NT South Devon coastline, the house was designed in 1925 for Rupert and Lady Dorothy D’Oyly Carte, who created the luxuriant garden around it. The house reflects the Arts & Crafts tradition, but also has refreshingly modern interiors; the garden has year-round interest with a gazebo, water features and fine collection of rare and exotic plants.

Built by fourteenth-century merchants to protect themselves from invasion. This brilliantly positioned defensive castle juts out into the narrow entrance to the Dart Estuary, with the sea lapping at its foot.
