Built c.1653 by the Baptist congregation of Kilmington, who attended services here at the risk of imprisonment or transportation. A simple but interesting building, with an interior fitted in the early 18th century.

One of the most important surviving non-fortified manor houses of the Middle Ages. Begun in 1380 and completed in the late 16th century, then partly demolished in the late 18th century, the house has battlemented turrets, late Gothic windows and a Tudor gatehouse.
