Fun Days Out In Babbacombe
Perched high on the clifftop, Babbacombe has a small, sheltered beach far below, and is popular for fishing. Access is quite steep from the downs above. There are charming shops, wonderful gardens through which to stroll, stunning views across Lyme Bay and a good choice for fish & chips.

Set on the southern edge of the Dartmoor National Park surrounded by woods and meadows, the quiet town of Buckfastleigh is best known for the nearby Buckfast Abbey and the South Devon Valley Railway. The steam railway follows the old Ashburton line, along the river Dart through Staverton to Totnes, some 7 miles (11km) away.

Great Torrington is a friendly, welcoming town, set in the midst of rolling, unspoilt green countryside. An ancient settlement extraordinarily sited on a cliff top with steep drops down to the River Torridge below. In the very heart of Tarka Country, the wonderful landscape has remained practically unchanged since Henry Williamson wrote his classic novel "Tarka the Otter" in the 1920's.

Exmouth is a traditional seaside resort, with over two miles of golden sands and an esplanade with plenty of activity for the children. Two miles to the north of Exmouth is the National Trust property of A-La-Ronde. This 45 ft high, sixteen sided, Byzantine style, thatched house has twenty rooms set out around a central octagonal hall.

Newton Abbot straddling the River Lemon, has been a market town since. This lively, bustling town, offers the visitor a whole range of markets as well as historic buildings, lovely parks and a working malthouse!

Paignton is a family resort with a harbour, long beaches and parks. The old town is inland from the beach, the church is of interest, next to a tower remaining from a former bishops palace. Lots to do and see, and is ideal for families. Coastal walks and the gardens on the cliffs are lit up in summer.

Tiverton, was once the industrial centre of Devon, mainly fabrics. The fine old merchants buildings in the town remain along with Tiverton Castle, worth a visit, and the canal which has boat trips, horse drawn. The town has a small, but busy, shopping centre, with some out of town shops.

The ancient borough of Totnes enjoys a prominent position above the River Dart. The town is one of Devon's gems; full of both colour and character, that stems from a rich cultural, historical and archaeological heritage. It is the second oldest borough in England, and is full of interesting diversions for the visitor museums, a riverside with steamer quay, an ancient Guildhall and Church, a Norman Castle and the North and East Gates.
